Sundancer Studio is the combined creative venture of Marie Markesteyn and her granddaughter, Sonya Gonzales. Marie is a photographer with more than thirty-five years of experience. She closed her studio in Española in 2000 after serving the community since 1980. She has continued to do weddings and free lance work and has devoted time to creating fine art photographs of Northern New Mexico as well as many other places and people. She has really missed her love of art - portrait photography.Sonya is a graphic artist and web designer. You can view her work here. She has dabbled (and plunged!) creatively into many areas of art, design and theater. She has a love of fantasy, especially the fairy realm and fairy tales. She has an imaginative eye for portraits and has assisted Marie for many years. Sonya graduated from college and is ready to join Marie in bringing a high quality photography studio to our area again. She has collected a truly wonderful costume wardrobe.
They both enhance the images to create a blend of photography and art. Sonya uses her graphic arts skills to create our storybooks, cards and other graphic applications.
Sundancer Studio is located in Alcalde, New Mexico in the Village of Los Luceros about 20 minutes north of Española. Our studio is on our ranchito in a beautiful area. Clients, please call 505-852-4455 or 927-3642 for directions and to make appointments.We are a full service photography studio. We photograph families, adults, senior photos, and formal portraits. Weddings, offering engagement portraits and classic bridal portraits in the studio, are a specialty. We copy old photographs and restore those valuable family heirlooms.
Much of our work occurs in our computer stations after the studio session. We collect the images and create a slide show of the proofs for each client. We then meet with the client for a viewing session and discuss the creative possibilities of each proof. Once the order is placed, each image is enhanced to perfect the color and composition. Special effects are employed to create the look of a fantasy painting.
